Striking modernist table lamp designed by Pierre Giroudon, featuring a rectangular block of transparent blue and clear cast Lucite enclosing a delicate dandelion seed head (Taraxacum) preserved within the acrylic. The botanical specimen appears suspended in space, creating a dramatic floating effect that is enhanced by the vivid cobalt-blue ground and crystal-clear upper section. Mounted with a polished metal standard and surmounted by a cylindrical cream fabric shade.
Combining organic natural forms with innovative synthetic materials, this lamp exemplifies the fascination with nature, transparency, and new plastics that characterized French decorative arts of the late 1960s and 1970s.
