1970s P. Mas-Rossi French Brass Sunflower Table Lamp with Agate Center

A striking sculptural table lamp by French artist and designer P. Mas-Rossi (Pierre Mas Rossi), dating to the 1970s. Fashioned as a large sunflower in hand-worked brass, individually formed petals surround a dramatic natural agate slice displaying concentric bands of amber, rust, and cream around a crystalline center. The flower rises from an exuberant arrangement of curving brass leaves and stems, set upon a richly textured rectangular brass base. Signed P. MAS-ROSSI to one of the leaves.

Working in Saint-Étienne, France, Mas-Rossi expanded from painting and sculpture into decorative metalwork during the 1970s and 1980s, becoming particularly known for his imaginative botanical lighting in welded, brushed, and patinated brass. This lamp beautifully combines the organic forms, natural materials, and expressive craftsmanship characteristic of his work, bridging sculpture, lighting, and natural history.
