A rare French patinated bronze figural cigar lighter with an Orientalist motif, dating to circa 1900. Finely cast and richly patinated in a deep, warm chocolate brown, the lighter is modeled as the bust of an Asian man with expressive features and a finely detailed hairstyle, adorned with a gilt-highlighted necklace that contrasts beautifully with the dark bronze. Ingeniously designed, the figure holds a cigar between his lips, with the wick emerging from the tip to create a realistic lighting effect, while the lighter fluid reservoir is discreetly filled through an opening concealed at the back of the head. Raised on a stepped square socle, this sculptural lighter combines exceptional craftsmanship with practical functionality, exemplifying the whimsical yet sophisticated smoking accessories produced in France during the Belle Époque. A rare and highly decorative collector's piece, it retains a beautifully aged original patina with rich gilt accents. Height: 6.5 in. (16.5 cm).
