French Louis XVI Parcel-Gilt Trumeau Mirror, Late 18th Century

An elegant French Louis XVI trumeau mirror in carved wood with a finely executed parcel-gilt and blue-painted finish, dating to the late 18th century. The architectural frame is flanked by a pair of fluted classical columns supporting a molded cornice above a frieze centered with a finely carved gilt relief depicting two winged putti presenting a fruit-filled basket, flanked by stylized foliate ornaments. The lower apron is embellished with a delicate gilt acanthus spray, completing the refined Neoclassical composition. Retaining its original hand-silvered mirror plate with attractive age-related foxing and surface wear consistent with its age, the mirror displays the restrained elegance and classical symmetry characteristic of the Louis XVI period. Equally suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors, it offers exceptional architectural presence and decorative appeal. France, late 18th century.
