Painted Barometer with Thermometer, Late 18th Century:

A finely crafted wall-mounted barometer in a muted gray painted finish, featuring an elongated, neoclassical form with carved floral and foliate cresting above a fluted architectural body. The circular dial is inscribed in French with weather indications such as “Variable,” “Beau Temps,” and “Tempête,” surrounding a central pointer, while a slender thermometer is set within a glazed aperture above, marked “Thermomètre Réaumur,” reflecting traditional European measurement scales. The carved decoration, including draped garlands and stylized botanical motifs, lends the piece an elegant and decorative presence, while the softly worn painted surface and gentle patina enhance its antique character. Both functional and ornamental, this barometer exemplifies 19th-century craftsmanship and scientific instrumentation.

Dimensions: 2" depth x 11" width x 39" height.
