PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A beautiful late 19th-century Orientalist watercolor by French artist Paul Pascal, signed and dated 1895. The atmospheric composition depicts Bedouin travelers resting beside their camels in a tranquil desert oasis, framed by palm trees and lush vegetation. A luminous sunset washes the horizon in delicate shades of rose, coral, and pale blue. Born in Toulouse, Pascal studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid and spent part of his youth in North Africa. He became celebrated for his evocative Orientalist landscapes, particularly scenes of North Africa and Egypt, and exhibited at the prestigious Paris Salon during the late 19th century. His masterful handling of light, color, and atmospheric perspective is beautifully demonstrated in this work. Signed and dated lower left, the painting is presented in a handsome giltwood frame with a wide mat.
